About Soroptimist International

Soroptimist International is a world wide organisation of women working together to transform the lives of women and girls.  Our Vision is of a world where human rights are respected and where all women and girls can reach their fullest potential. Family Violence is a serious barrier the fulfillment of this Vision.

The organisation has General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and there are currently 16 volunteer United Nation Representatives who work across 6 United Nations Centres to ensure that the voices of women and girls around the world are included in international decision making. Importantly, their work is informed by the Programme of Service and Projects undertaken by Soroptimists locally and nationally. These provide education, empowerment and enabling opportunities for women and girls in our local, national and international communities.

Soroptimist International seeks to be a Global Voice for Women and works through a process of Awareness, Advocacy and Action. The Rosie Batty Roadshow is part of an Australia-wide campaign run by Soroptimist International Australia to end family violence which has many aspects ranging from public awareness and education programmes to supporting victims.
