Rosie Batty became a leading activist in the fight against domestic violence in response to personal tragedy, the death of her 11 year old son, Luke, at the hands of his father in a very public assault. Luke was the victim of domestic violence and Rosie has worked tirelessly since to raise public awareness of the issue and to advocate for change in both social attitudes and legislation.
Recently, Rosie Batty has launched a campaign calling for changes in Family Law Act the system of dealing with custody issues. She plans to present a Justice for Children petition to federal politicians on the anniversary of her son’s murder by his father. The aim is to ensure a greater focus on children’s safety.
